I've heard there are different kinds of yoga. Some seem very active. I want to know which kind of yoga might be best for stress reduction. Any ideas?

There are actually many different types of yoga, some that don't involve a physical practice at all and would, to a Western perspective, seem more like meditation or volunteering. However, Hatha yoga is the type that most of us are familiar with in America, which involves stretches and breathing exercises. Within Hatha yoga, there are four different divisions: Ashtanga or Power Yoga, Bikram, Iyengar and Kundalini.
Almost all types of yoga will work to reduce stress. Yoga practices allow us to experience both tension and release and teaches us flexibility of the mind (as well as the body). If you already have an exercise regimen that you follow, you might want to look into less work-out related programs rather than something like Bikram or Power Yoga. Iyengar yoga is a kind of physical practice that involves deep stretching and slower, more gentle movements. I love doing Iyengar yoga at night because, afterward, all I want to do is go to sleep.
Most large yoga studios will offer these types of classes, but, if you prefer to do your practice at home, there are plenty of DVDs available through sites like Amazon.com. Just do a search for 'stress' and 'yoga', and see what you come up with. I love sites like these because you can read consumer reviews before you choose a purchase. Hi,
I am a very type A, driven, competitive runner that struggles with feeling like I am too slow. I started doing yoga 6 months ago, and I am astonished at the acceptance of myself I have gained and how much calmer and at peace I am.
Please try it and give it at least 6-8 sessions before you judge it. My first class was a real struggle because I didn;t know any of the poses and felt like a real dip, but I knew it would help me with my attitude.
INcredibly, the increased flexibilty has improved my running too. I wish you well....

Yoga involves meditation after you do the yoga exercises.
The yoga exercises are mostly strengthening.
I prefer yoga because I find myself falling asleep a lot during meditation.

and i made yoga ,then can yoga reduce chemical imbalance of brain?
