Full Version: Other means of getting relief from stress beside exercise and meditation.

My job often get me stressed out, often I have no time left for exercises or meditations. I was just wondering if there are other ways to reduce stress? Please help.

The only advice I can offer is to use stress relief patches and stay away from stimulants, caffeine, and sugar. They could be available to you from http://www.theramood.com/. They are easy to use, simply peel off and apply one patch in the morning and you feel better all day.

I think using a stress relief patch can do nothing but help. Obviously, you're in need of something that can help calm you down, and given the fact that you have no time for exercise, meditation or reflection, this sounds like it is a good short term solution.

However, i have to suggest that you find the time to spend time with yourself.

Do you like your job? or is it the one thing in your life that causes stress?

I, also, am quite busy, so i try to set aside about 4 hours per week to exercise/meditate. 4 hours per week is easy to find. I work 8 - 14 hours a day depending on the workload, but i always manage to find 20 minutes here, or 20 minutes there, and i assure you, if you take the time to look at where you are spending your minutes/hours, you will find time.

Look into getting some DVD's like Yoga, Pilates or guided meditation and pop those in at night instead of watching regular TV. it will do wonders for your life.

I love what Stefford has to say on this subject! We often say we don't have the time, but, if we resolve to make the time, the time magically appears.

There are simpler stress management techniques you can use throughout the day. Take 5 minutes for every hour spent at work to stretch, close your eyes and breathe in and out deeply a few times. Get up and walk around if you spend a lot of time at a desk. If you work in a noisy, hectic environment, take those five minutes in a quiet spot like the bathroom. This will work like a little pressure valve to reduce stress regularly, preventing it from building up to boiling point by the end of your day.

Also, you can make your drive home your meditation time. Of course, you can't close your eyes! But you can turn on some relaxing music like jazz or classical and focus on letting your mind wander away from work, personal worries, or that big pile of dirty dishes waiting for you at home. Don't think about anything that causes anxiety. Instead, focus on pleasant thoughts, the beautiful scenery you're driving by or even just the beautiful way the music sounds.

The drive home is a perfect time to reflect on the day. Depending on the day, i will switch out what i listen to.

Sometimes music, sometimes commentary, sometimes news. However, i often find myself getting stirred up and off track listening to the news.

something you might think about is plugging your iPod (if you have one) right into the radio in your car and listening to your favorite podcasts. If nothing else, listening to some self help experts would help.

You know, after reading your discussions in this forum and reading your blogs, 123 Feel Better guys, I think you all should think about setting up a pod cast. I'd listen to it for sure.
