Hi. I am a 52 year old Adult with a very mild form of Bipolar which my doctor thinks may be ADHD. She put me on Lamctil, which as your may know is for seizures but now they are giving it for ADD. I can across Clarocet some time ago and I did not explore it. Instead I went to one of those Websites that tested Neurotransmitters. I took all the Amino Acids. It got very expensive and I did not feel a difference. Can Clarocet be taken with Medication. I'm not sure if I want to stay on the Lamactil, it's not making a difference with my ADD symptoms. Please advise. Also I cannot take stimulants as I feel they make me have slight tics.
Thank you

Hello Ann,

I understand that you want to make changes to the current prescription drug treatment plan prescribed to you by your doctor. I think it's an excellent idea to take dietary supplements to promote focus, mental sharpness and mood balance. However, you should also consider what herbs, vitamins and amino acids can do realistically.

You mention that you have been diagnosed with a very mild form of Bipolar disorder that your doctor thinks may be ADHD. It sounds like you are looking to dietary supplements like Clarocet to help treat the symptoms of these disorders. Since the US Food and Drug Administration has not approved dietary supplements to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent a disease such as Bipolar disorder or ADHD, it is not recommended that you use these products to treat these conditions unless otherwise recommended by your doctor.

Note that there are many other prescription medications that are used to treat symptoms of ADHD. Since you cannot take stimulants, you might ask your doctor about Strattera, a non-stimulant drug approved by the FDA to treat symptoms of ADHD. Strattera is believed to increase attention and control hyperactivity and impulsivity by increasing the availability of the neurotransmitter Norepinephrine. Ask your doctor if combining Lamictal along with Strattera is right for you. There are no documented interactions when combining these two products and they both seem to address the symptoms that you have mentioned.

I hope this information is helpful. Thank you for visiting InsightJournal.com!

All the best,
Peter Holy

I take Clarocet along with a low dose of Paxil, and it seems to work pretty well.

I am a 45 yr old female with some type of problem -- My symptoms match the following
Perimenopause
Adrenal Fatiuge
Hypothryoidism
ADHD
Mild to Moderate Bi-Polar

I have tried Diet changes, Exercise, Prozac, Paxil, St. Johns, Omega 3, Valerian, 5http, and other natural remedies.

My question is this -- Which of the Clarocet products would be best or should I take all 4 NRI, CS, ERT, PM -- It seems to me in reading the descriptions in symptoms that they could all be effective but then I get the feeling I would end up overmedicated and more of a zombie/space cadet than when I am in a "depressive" stage.

My biggest issue i guess would be consitancy so that should probably be addressed first. My Therapist has recommended cking into a prescription type medication but I would like to try natural first.

As a side note I just got off of 3 months of that stop smoking medicine (can't remember the name right now) and I am noticing that the "racing" & anxiety are steadily increasing as the days go by -- which means that if this keeps going I will either "blow up" or start smoking again which i really don't want to do.

Would appreciate any input / feedback. -- as you can probably tell i am speeding along pretty good this am.
