i want to stop taking zyban (bupropion), can i take ashwaghanda with it. with the intention of solely taking the herbal remedy??
Clare, I would definitely recommend that you speak with a physician prior to adding any herbal remedy to your current Zyban treatment. If nothing else, your doctor should be made aware in the event that you experience any negative interactions.
Additionally, you should be very careful if you are wanting to stop taking the Zyban completely and substitute it for Ashwaghanda. While Ashwagandha is an excellent anxioytic herb, it is not an approved treatment for anxiety related conditions. At the same time, though, there is some clinical evidence that suggests Ashwagandha can help calm the body during stressful periods.
If you do, in fact, decide to pursue the herbal remedy route, I'd also recommend looking in to combining Ashwagandha with Valerian Root and Passion Flower, both of which are clinically shown to help temporarily relieve stress related conditions like anxiety and sleep problems.
