I am not sure if Wellbutrin can help with getting someone off of cocaine.
It is interesting that they work similar to eachother in the brain.
Take a look at the following study:
Differential regulation of dopamine transporter after chronic self-administration of bupropion and nomifensine. This study discusses how cocaine and bupropion hydrochloride (the active ingredient in Wellbutrin) affect the dopamine neurotransmitter.
The following studies deal directly with Cocaine abuse and Wellbutrin as a possible treatment.
Six-month trial of bupropion with contingency management for cocaine dependence in a methadone-maintained population.Bupropion treatment for cocaine abuse and adult attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder.Hope this information is useful.
