I have suffered from depression and anxiety for the last two years. I have been in counciling for about six months and its only helped with the anxiety. But the depression hasn't changed. I feel sad a lot of the time, I don't eat as much as I should, I lost interest in a lot of things and I'm looseing my hair slowly. When should I start thinking about meds?

Now might be a good time to ask your doctor if you need to be taking an antidepressant.

I suffer from depression myself and like you I've lost interest in so many things that I used to enjoy doing. I haven't lost my appetite or any hair though.

I take 100 mil of Elavil which is a trycilic antidepressant but it doesn't help my depression. I take it at bedtime to help me fall asleep.

There are some SSRI antidepressants which work very well and I've taken several different kinds but don't take them anymore.
