I am new to this website, and I am VERY concerned about the new script I was prescribed! I have never taken Wellbutin, and I am currently on a low dose of 150mg per day. The thing that freaks me out is....I currently take only 36 ml of METHADONE a day for pain(from 3 hip surgeries) and I am currently weening off of it. I also am 100% Italian....So I drink 2 glasses of WINE on a daily basis!! THIS is the thing that concerns me!! I am VERY scared to put different medications into my body without having any sort of feedback!! Can someone PLEASE let me know how safe Wellbutrin is to take, especially if you are using minimal alcohol,or whatever?? THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!

Hey there. I take the generic version of welbutrin called Bupropion. One 150mg pill twice a day. I also still drink a bit, although being told not to. (probobly stupid, but I have a bit of trouble staying away from the stuff myself as I am/was a mild alcoholic) I have been taking it for close to a year and after about the first month or so it has made a fairly big difference. It suppressed the depression pretty well for quite a while. In recent months I have had some problems with some depression again. This could be more an effect of some of the rough things I am dealing with right now, but could also mean that I need a higher dose. I would stay away from the large amount all at once, one time a day. I tried the 24hr version at 450mg at once each day (one 150mg and one 300mg). This seemed to cause a strange "high" or "peak" shortly after taking it, then what felt like a deficiancy later in the evening. I also have ADHD, OCD and who knows what else, so if you are more "normal" than I am, this may not help you all that much, but I hope so. Good Luck! I hope it works and I think it is worth a try, it seems to be low enough a risk compared to the possible positive outcome.

I took Wellbutrin for a short while but I didn't like it because it caused me not to be able to go to sleep. Did the same doctor prescribe both medications? You could call your pharmacist and he/she would probably know whether or not it's safe to combine them along with the wine.
Sorry I can't be more helpful.

I am also taking the generic form of Welbutrin. I started taking it about 2 weeks ago. I've had nausea and diarrhea, can hardly eat anything, no appetite, and here I am at the "butt-crack" of dawn, so my sleep is affected. I usually sleep fine with the help of Lunesta, Lyrica, Avinza (morphine), and Vicodin for pain management. I don't mind losing weight, but this is not exactly how I thought I would do that! I don't drink, and it's a good thing with all the other meds I take. Will this stomach trouble go away?

oh my god, i just started taking bupropion and i haven't been able to sleep either! i'm so glad it's the med. i thought i was losing my mind. i have trouble with anxiety but chose wellbutrin because i didn't want the sexual side effects of SSRIs. is insomnia side effect i can deal with? ahhh. i don't know but i guess it's better than being depressed.
