Is it OK to combine Valerian Root and St. John's Worth with Effexor? I am taking effexor for anxiety and am concerned about possible side effects if i mix all three together. Thank you in advance.

Effexor is crazy!! It screwed my mom up bad! If I were you, I'd tell my doctor to help me get off Effexor and then take natural products if that's what you want to do. Effexor just seems like it has enough side effects. No sense in adding other products to that mix.

Kelly, while i agree that going to your doctor may be something for you to consider, I think you can safely take effexor with herbs like chamomile, valerian and st. john's wort. You can do some independent research at the following website :
http://www.drugdigest.org/DD/Interaction/C...1,4109,,00.htmlIt allows you to choose a drug and herbs or vitamins and see what interactions exist.

Okay, Effexor is not some horrible drug! Please don't overgeneralize just because your mom had a bad experience. Some people just can't take Effexor like some people can't eat peanut butter. For me, Effexor has changed my life. I wouldn't be where I am today without taking it. So, before you go trying to tell someone to quit, consider that they are in a vulnerable position as it is.
Kelly, why do you want to add these herbs to the Effexor?

It says on the information packet that you should not take Effexor with certain natural supplements.
As for me, I've also benefited from the drug and don't appreciate the bad press from people with second-hand knowledge.
