Hello , I am trying to taper off Lexapro . No problems there . I want to start on Wellbutrin XR at some time during this process . My question is that maybe ten years ago I tried the regular Wellbutrin . Not the sustained release . After six days on the med I felt very good but the second day I felt it kick in with a jolt that about knocked me off my chair while drinking coffee . To say I was wired was an understatement . I was freaked . It took me about four days to start feeling normal again . So , now I see they have this sustained release product . As a part of me did like the initial effect of the medication I was thinking about giving another try . I wrote the pharmaceutical company and of course they decline to respond with any feedback . Any thoughts on this from people with experience would be appreciated . Be well

I've never tried Welbutrin XL, but your line of thinking makes sense.

When you took the original, you were basically being hit with the full strength of the product right up fron. With the extended release, it is going to put a little but into your system over the course of the entire day.

My reco is that you call your doctor.

Per Drug Digest, it doesn't look like there are any negative interactions when you combine the two:

Check InteractionsNo interactions were found for the drugs you selected.
You searched for interactions between the following drugs:

Lexapro
Wellbutrin XL
